Frequently Asked Questions
A few of the questions that we often get asked...1. Does my business really need a website?
No matter what business you’re in, you can benefit from having a website.
Having a website opens up your marketing potential to a whole new audience who can view your products, services and offerings from their own homes, or on their mobile phones on the move.
2. Can you build E-commerce sites?
We can. If it’s an e-commerce site that you require, our design team can help generate confidence in your products and enhance your sales with eye catching, engaging designs.
Depending on what you require, your online shop will be able to take secure payments online, arrange shipping, manage your inventory, run coupon codes and discounts, and keep and eye on sales and performance with analytic reporting features.
3. What is a CMS and do I need to understand it?
A Content Management System (CMS) in simple terms is the application that allows you to upload, publish, organise, edit and delete content from your site through a simple easy-to-use system. With this in mind, we build all our sites through WordPress using custom themes and plug-ins.
We made the decision early on that we would WordPress as our Content Management System of choice, as it is widely known to be most usable CMS out there. This way, when your site is complete, you have the option of easily managing the content yourself, or leaving it to us for a small monthly fee.
4. Right okay, I want a website! Where do I start?
Then you’ve come to the right place! All you need to do is give us a ring or drop us a line, and let us know a bit about your business and what you require. If you’re unsure of what’s best for your business, I would recommend arranging a short meeting where we can discuss what would be right for your business over a cup of coffee.
If you already have the content for your site, we can get the ball rolling right away and begin looking at design. However, we also have an experienced in-house copy writer who can help write search engine optimised copy for your site if you require this service.
5. Do you register Domains and Host sites?
6. Can you provide e-mail accounts?
In short, yes!
We can offer you professional email accounts that work with your domain for example – you@yourdomain.co.uk. All email accounts are hosted on our server which uses anti-virus software that will minimize your chances of catching a virus.
7. Can you help me promote my website?
Yes we can. In-fact this is one of our specialties. We’re all from a marketing background and have gained the knowledge and know-how to promote your website through a range of different channels in an integrated marketing campaign. Depending on your business’s needs, we can using both digital and print marketing to get your business noticed.
Google PPC Campaigns (pay per click) and SEO (search engine optimisation), are two of the most common marketing techniques we employ to help you reach your intended audience.
8. What’s SEO? and how does it work?
Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO for short, is the process of increasing the visibility of your site in search engines up-paid rankings. We focus on google optimisation as it’s currently the leading search browser by a mile.
It’s easy to get lost in all the mumbo jumbo out there about all the factors that influence search engine rankings, so we try to explain the bigger picture:
Google wants to give its customers the most relevant search results possible and is constantly updating its algorithms to improve this, and dish out penalties to sites that try to trick the system with black-hat SEO. With this in mind, it makes sense to focus your website on giving your customers the content they want in the most pleasurable way possible, as this is essentially what google is looking for.
Of course there are lots of other factors involved, but we can take care of that for you.
9. What is PPC? and how does it work?
10. Can you advise me on suitable stock imagery to use on my site?
11. How much will my website cost?
That really depends on what you require, as we base our prices on how long it will take for us to complete the job. If you’re unsure of what kind of site you need, we can help advise you on what will be best for your company based on your size, budget, and what the purpose of your site will be.
As we base our prices on the time it takes us to complete the job, a simple brochure site will be much cheaper than an E-commerce site that allows you to sell products and arrange shipping online, as they take much longer to build.
12. What are the payment terms for my website?
Payment terms for your website are as follows:
- 40% upfront,
- 50% once designs have been signed off and work is underway,
- Final 10% will be invoiced when the site is ready to go live!
